Description

OZBEE Premium 3 Layer Mesh Beekeeping Suit — Hoodie Veil

The same three layers of ventilated mesh as our round head suit, with a hood-style veil that folds back the moment you step away from the hive.

That one difference changes how the suit fits into your day. If you are moving between hives, checking a few colonies, stopping to do something else and coming back, you are not taking the whole suit off and putting it back on — the veil goes back and you are out of it. It also packs smaller, which matters if the suit lives in the ute.

Built by OZBEE in Gladstone, Queensland. Sizes 3XS to 5XL. Free shipping on this suit, with Afterpay and Zip available.

What makes this our Premium suit

OZBEE sells two 3 layer mesh suits. The mesh is the same on both. This one differs in the parts that actually fail:

  • YKK brass zips on the body and legs, not plastic. Zips are the first thing to go on a bee suit.
  • Double-stitched, reinforced seams — built for repeated washing and rough handling.
  • Eleven sizes, 3XS to 5XL, against eight on our standard 3 layer mesh suit.

If those do not matter for your hive work, our standard 3 layer mesh hoodie suit is the same mesh construction at a lower price.

Key features

  • 3 layer ultra cool mesh — air circulates through all three layers instead of being trapped against you
  • Detachable fold-back hoodie veil — high-visibility mesh, Velcro and zip closure
  • YKK brass zips — heavy duty, body and legs
  • Double-stitched seams — reinforced throughout
  • Tool pockets and key chain holder
  • Elastic chin strap and leg seals — adjustable, to close the gaps bees find first
  • Sizes 3XS to 5XL
  • Unisex. Machine washable (suit only); veil is hand wash.

Who it suits

Beekeepers doing several short visits rather than one long session, working in and out of shade, or transporting and storing the suit regularly. The fold-back hood means the veil comes off your head without the suit coming off your body.

If your inspections run long in full sun and you want the widest field of view, look at our Premium 3 Layer Mesh Suit with Round Head Veil — same fabric, same protection, same price.

How to wear it

Put the suit on over your working clothes and zip it fully. Bring the hood up and secure it with the Velcro and zip, then adjust the chin elastic and leg seals until there are no gaps at your wrists or ankles. Fold the hood back when you step away from the hive.

After use, check the cuffs, ankles and veil zip. Detach the veil and hand wash it; machine wash the suit on its own with a mild detergent. Dry completely before storing.

Size Chart Guide

Measurements are of the garment, not your body — the suit is worn over your working clothes. Match your height to the length column first, then check the chest figure leaves room to bend and lift. Between sizes, go up.

Frequently asked questions

Does the hoodie veil fold back while I am wearing the suit?

Yes — that is the point of this style. The hood folds back off your head so you can step away from the hive without taking the suit off.

Is protection the same as the round head version?

Yes. Both use the same three-layer ventilated mesh and the same construction. The veil shape differs; the fabric and the protection do not.

Which is cooler in Australian summer, hoodie or round head?

Airflow through the body is identical — same mesh. The round head holds a larger air gap around your face, which some beekeepers prefer in full sun.

What is the difference between the Premium and standard OZBEE 3 layer mesh suit?

YKK brass zips instead of plastic, double-stitched reinforced seams, and eleven sizes instead of eight. The mesh construction is the same on both.

Can bees sting through a 3 layer mesh suit?

The three layers hold the outer mesh away from your skin, which makes a sting far less likely to reach you than with single-layer fabric. No suit is completely sting-proof — anywhere the fabric is pulled tight against your skin, or where the mesh is damaged, a sting can still get through.

Is the veil detachable?

Yes. It comes off for washing and can be replaced on its own if the mesh is damaged.

How do I clean the suit?

Machine wash the suit alone with mild detergent. Hand wash the detachable veil. Air dry both completely before storing.

What size should I order?

Use the size chart above. Measurements are of the garment, not your body. Match your height to the length column first, then check the chest figure leaves room to move. Between sizes, go up.
